Mazzola: Benitez is untouchable

Former Inter striker Sandro Mazzola has said in an interview with Calcio Mercato that Nerazzurri Coach Rafa Benitez should not fear for his place on the Inter bench. Following some lacklustre performances from the team and defeat in the Derby to Milan, voices around the peninsula are asking for Benitez’s head.
However, Mazzola believes that the Spaniard will be wise to turn a deaf ear to these stories: “Benitez is a great coach, I have see him at work. I absolutely would not change him, just give him time”. Inter have been without a few first team regulars in recent outings and the two-time European champion believes this has contributed greatly to the team’s poor form: “Any team would struggle without five of its regular starters. If you miss half the team, it is normal to have problems”.
Some have blamed Inter’s current injury crisis on a change in the training style of the team under Benitez but Mazzola is not drawn into such a discussion: “I haven’t seen them in training, so I cannot comment. But I feel that they could have been affected by the long, hard season they had last term”.
As the mini-crisis at Inter continues to grow, there have been renewed calls for reinforcements to the squad and the former striker believes that Moratti will need to dive into the market in January: “I think we need a midfielder, and as Samuel is out for a longer, maybe even a defender”.
It remains to be seen what the Nerazzurri plan for the winter transfer window but one of their reported targets, Ibrahim Afellay of PSV Eindhoven, has agreed terms with Barcelona forcing other suitors to look for different options. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
