Mesto set for 100th Genoa appearance

Fresh from a midweek Derby della Lanterna victory, Genoa’s Giandomenico Mesto will have another reason to celebrate, with the defender set for his 100th match in a Genoa shirt as his side welcome a troubled Roma to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Mesto spoke to about the milestone and the important fixture against the side from the capital:
“It is an important landmark and I am pleased. We will face a strong opponent; it is going to be a difficult match for us.”
Juraj Kucka, who has impressed in recent week, echoed Mesto’s sentiment: “They are a great squad as the table says so. It will be hard, but it will be a great match.”
Mesto will start in his usual right-back role in a 4-4-2 formation. Antonio Floro Flores and Rodrigo Palacio look set to start up front, with Alberto Paloschi on the bench.
I Rossoblu will take on a Lupi outfit still smarting from three consecutive losses in both Serie A and the Champions League, including Tuesday’s shock 2-3 loss against Shaktar Donetsk. Claudio Ranieri’s men needed a police escort as the team bus was leaving Trigoria for Fiumicino Airport. Four fans were arrested. Pressure is mounting on Ranieri and his side, with todays match a must-win.
Aleandro Rosi has been suspended for four matches following the spitting incident last week. Daniele De Rossi is out for one match. David Pizzaro is back in the squad, however, according to la Gazzetta dello Sport, the Chilean told Ranieri he was not ready to play yet. The midfielder has not featured in Serie A since November 28th last year.
