Mexes wants Serie A stay

Despite constant rumours of a transfer to the English Premier League, Philippe Mexes has revealed he would prefer to stay in Serie A should he decide to leave AS Roma at the end of the season.
The French international’s current deal at the Stadio Olimpico expires in the summer and the two parties have been unable to agree to an extension so far.
Milan have been continually linked with the central defender since the turn of the year, while the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are all said to be monitoring the situation closely.
However, Mexes has revealed that he is happy in Italy, although he is in no hurry to sort out his future.
Speaking to reporters in France while on international duty Mexes said: “It’s true that I’ll be out of contract, but I am quite relaxed about the situation:
“I will wait and then evaluate all proposals. I never said I’ll go anywhere, but I’ll make a decision over the next few months. There is no cut-off date.
“Milan? There is talk of that, but also of a renewal with Roma or a transfer to England.
“I have nothing in particular to add, other than to say that if I did leave Roma, I’d prefer to stay in Italy. I know Serie A well and they know me, certainly more so than in France.
“I have no interest in returning to Ligue 1, not even for a big club. It’s nothing to do with money. I still have much to learn and already went around France with Auxerre”.
Mexes joined Roma in 2004 from Ligue 1 side Auxerre. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
