Miccoli out for two weeks

Palermo has confirmed they will be without influential captain Fabrizio Miccoli for two weeks.
The 31-year-old former Juventus and Benfica forward is suffering from Achilles tendonitis in his right foot and is likely to miss Sunday’s home game with Udinese and the following fixture, away at Lazio on March 6.
Miccoli will spend the next fortnight resting and undergoing physiotherapy in an effort to heal the persistent injury.
Speaking to Palermo’s official website, Miccoli said: “It’s better that I stop for a while because, after visiting a specialist, we found that if I kept playing maybe I would have risked breaking the tendon and therefore, surgery.”
The ten-time Italy international has been in fine form for much of this campaign and his absence will be a big blow to the Rosanero, who hope to secure European football for next season.
The Palermo coaching staff, medical staff and Miccoli himself have all agreed that a two-week resting period will theoretically prevent any long-term damage, something that could hinder their more long-term ambitions.
