Mijhalovic confirms he is staying with Fiorentina

Fiorentina Coach Sinisa Mijhalovic has held a press conference in which he has confirmed that he was approached for the vacant Inter managerial position but reiterated his desire to stay in Tuscany.
Inter have been in search for a new Coach since last week when Leonardo quit to join as a Director at French club Paris St.Germain. Mijhalovic was an early favourite for the job having assisted Roberto Mancini at the Nerazzurri.
The Serb who took charge of Fiorentina last season had already issued a statement on Friday claiming his loyalties lay with La Viola and in today’s press conference he confirmed his intentions to stay with the club.
“I never had any hesitation in choosing to stay here. I know some people may not like my confirmation, but I’m staying in Florence. I like the Viola project and I’m fine, I hope to stay for many years.
“I know that fans do not have enthusiasm at this time but I ask them to believe in me, in the club and in this team. With this press conference I hope to clarify my will and my position.”
“It is true that I had contact with Inter, I received a phone call. I was contacted by their entourage because they wanted to know if I was willing to go to coach the Nerazzurri.
“If I had asked Fiorentina to let me go to Milan, I do not believe that the club would have had problems. But, we never reached this stage as my will and that of the club was to continue here.”
Mijhalovic thus becomes the latest manager to formally reject Inter after Marcelo Biesla turned them down for personal reasons, while moves for Fabio Capello and Andre Villas-Boas were blocked due to other causes.
