Milan scouting in Portugal for defenders, with David Luiz top of the wish-list

Milan Sporting Director Ariedo Braida has been in Portugal scouting with a trio of defenders to bolster their aging back-line, according to Corriere della Sera.
Benfica’s Brazilian centre-back David Luiz is supposedly top of Milan’s wish-list at the moment, although the fee could be a potential stumbling block. Luiz, who is 23-years-old and has two international caps, is highly-rated across Europe, and the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with a £30 million bid.
Milan would struggle to compete financially with those clubs, although have a strong Brazilian influence at the club. One of their Samba stars, Thiago Silva, has said: “Luiz has quality, and the potential to be the new Alessandro Nesta.”
Braida also watched Benfica’s left-back Fabio Coentrao, and Sporting Lisbon’s right-back Joao Pereira. Coentrao was notably impressive at the World Cup for Portugal, and at 22 years of age, represents the kind of youthful investment that Milan are looking for.
The lesser-known Pereira only has a single cap for Portugal and missed out on the World Cup, but is thought to have a bright future and would be within Milan’s price-range. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
