Milan sign van Bommel from Bayern

Mark van Bommel has confirmed that he will be joining Milan from Bayern Munich with immediate effect.
The 33-year-old, who had been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, has had his contract terminated by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich enabling him to join the Rossoneri on a free transfer.
Speaking to Sport1 television, the Dutch international said: “I am leaving FC Bayern with a heavy heart, but with my head held high.
“I had four and a half wonderful and successful years here and would like to express my gratitude to the club and the fans. FC Bayern will always have a place in my heart.
“I am a proud captain and the club has not laid anything in my way.
“I am very happy with the way Mr Rummenigge (Bayern chairman) has treated me, that deserves respect.”

Bayern had offered their skipper a contract extension beyond the end of this season, but Rummenigge revealed that is was only fair to allow the player to consider his options.
“It was Mark’s expressed request to be released from his contract immediately to be able to transfer to AC Milan for sporting reasons,” Rummenigge said in a statement.
“Mark was always a role model, an important and successful player for FC Bayern and, more than that, he was an exceptional captain. Given his service to the club, we accepted Mark’s request.”
Van Bommel joined Bayern in 2006 from Barcelona and went on to make 122 appearances for the club.
All being well with the medical, Van Bommel could be in line to make his debut against Catania on Saturday. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
