Milan’s Marchetti interest dismissed

Federico Marchetti is still no closer to ending his exile from Cagliari, after club president Massimo Cellino denied that he had approached by Milan for the goalkeeper’s services.
The 28-year-old hasn’t played in Serie A all season after a falling-out with the Cagliari hierarchy last summer regarding a move away from the Sardinian club. Despite sitting in the stands since his last match, Italy’s elimination from the World Cup, interest is high in Marchetti.
Genoa were allegedly close to signing him in January but a move never materialised. Milan have now emerged as an interested party as they want a reinforcement in goal should either Christian Abbiati or Marco Amelia leave the club in the summer.
But the Rossoneri’s interest in the player isn’t real, according to Cellino. He said: “Could Marchetti join Milan? I know that there have been some rumours. However, I don’t know anything about a possible transfer.
“Milan CEO [Adriano] Galliani is a friend of mine and he hasn’t told me anything about wanting to sign Marchetti.”

Cagliari are keen on getting rid of the rebellious keeper but are not willing to release him for less than his market value. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
