Milito calm after Ballon d’Or snub

Diego Milito is calm after being sensationally excluded from the list of 23 candidates for the prestigious Ballon d’Or trophy. The Argentine’s absence from the nominees has taken the whole footballing world by surprise after he won the treble with the Inter last season and scored 30 goals including the two that won them the Champions League.
“I thank all those who in public and in private, have shown me their affection” – began an official statement from the Nerazzurri forward on the club’s website. “Thanks especially to Massimo Moratti, the managers, the team, the Nerazzurri fans and my friends. Genoa where Milito spent the 2008-09 season also released a public statement last night condemning his exclusion and the 31-year old acknowledged his former team’s efforts: “A special thanks also to Genoa for a dedication that I will keep as one of my fondest memories”. The striker ended his statement wishing for Inter success in the trophy: “With the similar sincerity that I have been shown, I really hope that the Ballon d’Or is won by an Inter team-mate”.
