Moratti backs Benitez to succeed at Inter

Inter President Massimo Moratti has come to the defence of under fire Coach Rafa Benitez. The Nerazzurri have won just won of their previous six games in league and are nine points behind leaders Milan.
However, despite the criticism directed at Benitez and his tactics, Moratti still believes in the Spaniard. “We chose him because we believe that he is the right person to lead the team. He is a serious person and we shall continue”, said the Inter patron as he received an award for the club.
Moratti said that he had seen the alternatives mooted in the media in case of Benitez’s departure but he was not paying much attention to them. “I have read many names as substitutes for Benitez, each with attractive features, but I am not about to get distracted by them”.
An injury crisis has currently gripped the club which sees five first team players missing from action viz. Julio Cesar, Maicon, Walter Samuel, Thiago Motta and Diego Milito. Moratti believes that the injuries are holding back the team’s progress and once the players are back to full fitness things will improve.
“We are trying to find a solution to the huge number of injuries that we have at the moment. Benitez has only a limited number of players at his disposal and he’s doing what he can. In a month’s time we will have ten players who will return and Inter will do a lot better then”.
With the Nerazzurri already tailing Milan in the league, Moratti stated that the team cannot afford to lose any more points. “Wednesday will be a decisive game in the Champions League and then we have the Club World Cup, even in the league we must not throw away points. There is everything still to play for, we have to keep clinging to our objectives”
This show of belief from the owner should do Benitez good as he prepares Inter to take on Twente. The Spaniard has maintained that a victory will change the team’s poor run of form. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
