Moratti: “Eto’o is like Inter’s Messi”

Inter President Massimo Moratti has lavished praise on striker Samuel Eto’o who scored 37 goals for the Nerazzurri this term by comparing his impact to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
In an interview with Inter Channel, the Inter patron said that he felt the Cameroonian was unique and that he was undoubtedly the club’s player of the season.
“I believe that others won’t be offended if I say that Samuel Eto’o was the real star of Inter’s season. He had a return so high that it would be like taking Messi from Barcelona, perhaps without him we would not reach the goals we achieved.”
The Nerazzurri’s season started off in a rocky manner which saw Rafa Benitez replaced with Leonardo at the turn of the year, but Moratti admitted that overall he was pleased with the club’s achievements.
“I think for the year, I would give it a 7, which to me is a good year. Then of course, we can never be happy because Inter’s rivalry with othersl and we have to be competitive, otherwise we would be happy forever.”
“But the season has gone well, despite everything that happened at the beginning, a rocky start that lasted for several months. Fortunately, there was the World Club Cup that has gave us strength and, especially, the arrival of Leonardo eased the environment from a mental point of view.”

Moratti however, did express his disappointment at missing out on more silverware especially after Inter had clawed back a huge deficit in the league and looked to be on course in the Champions League.
“Unfortunately we had those seven or eight negative days which we need to study and analyse as to how did it come to that point. Maybe because we were all too convinced that it was quite normal.”
“Not easy, but normal – being used to winning the league, to be there and be able to catch the opponents when we needed to. But that defeat to Milan put us in a nasty condition.”
“Leonardo still did very well after exiting the Champions League, to recover the players because, many times, even a team full of talented players might no longer have the motivation to end the season on a high.”

Moratti’s attention will now undoubtedly turn towards the transfer market where he has admitted Inter will be active and identified Udinese’s Alexis Sanchez as one of his prime targets. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
