Moratti responds to Agnelli’s Calciopoli claims

Inter President Massimo Moratti has wasted no time in responding to his Juventus counterpart Andrea Agnelli who termed Calciopoli as a ‘ridiculous procedure’.
The Nerazzurri owner said he didn’t quite understand what Agnelli meant to achieve by raising this topic over and over again and that the mentality of the two clubs was quite different now.
“I cannot comment on Agnelli’s words as I haven’t heard exactly what he said. But, it is clear that his ideas as Juventus Chairman are quite different.”
The Bianconeri have pursued the reopening of the Calciopoli trial ever since Agnelli took over and they have made an appeal to the FIGC to consider reassigning them the two titles that they were stripped of.
While the 2004-05 title was unassigned, the 2005-06 Scudetto was handed over to Inter and this is particularly bothersome to the Old Lady. Moratti, however, refused to take an offical stance on the issue.
“I won’t take an official position now. So far we are only at the stage of making declarations. I don’t know much more in terms of facts. I don’t know what exactly they have in mind or what they are doing.”
Moratti who is Abu Dhabi for the FIFA Club World Cup watched his team get to the finals last night after beating South Korean side Seongnam Ilhwa 3-0 and he was pleased with the result.
“Benitez did well to confront a psychologically difficult situation and he did a good job. I have confidence in him, he is a calm and peaceful person, who does his job very well.”
“We had to decide what was the best way forward with all the circumstances around us. It was only right to allow that the Coach be given a chance to play his best, but now we must win this tournament, not just participate.”

Inter have been linked to a number of players in recent days and one name that keeps spring up constantly is Antonio Cassano whose Sampdoria contract may be rescinded and make him a free agent.
“Cassano? He’s a good player and a good guy, but for the moment we have not done anything. We’re not looking for a player like that. As for Ranocchia, I hear we are closer to him, but I don’t buy according to injuries. I still stubbornly believe that our squad is complete.”
