Jose Mourinho has taken a dig at Rafa Benitez’s coaching methods at Inter by questioning his losing streak of recent weeks. “What, he lost again?”, was the Special One’s tongue in cheek response to Inter’s current predicament whilst speaking with La Gazzetta Dello Sport
The Portuguese Coach and his Spanish counterpart were never the best of friends when they were peers in England and the bitterness between the two escalated this summer after Benitez took over the reins of Inter from Mourinho. There has been a constant exchange of banter and it remains to be seen what the Spaniard makes of this latest remark.
This is incredible, he is nine points behind already…”, continued Mourinho who led Inter to a historic treble last year. Benitez’s position at the Nerazzurri is coming under increasing scrutiny and the Real Madrid tactician warned him that things are quite different in Italy: “Of course, everything is different especially at Inter as compared to England”/I>
There have been suggestions that should Inter fail to turn around their situation soon enough, Benitez may have to make way for someone else. The Nerazzurri have now won one of their last seven games and some are already counting them out of the title race at this early stage of the season.
With the pressure increasing on both the manager and the players, Inter will welcome Twente to the San Siro on Wednesday hoping to put an end to this nightmare run which they are experiencing.
