Fiorentina has announced on its official website the capture of Gianni Munari from Palermo on a three year contract. The 28-year old does not feature in the Rosanero’s first-team plans and Fiorentina have swooped to sign him.
The midfielder was an integral part of Lecce’s fight to avoid relegation last season, playing 34 times. He was signed on a permanent basis by the Sicilian club, who paid €350,000 in the co-ownership blind auction.
Munari, who made his professional debut in 2001, has also represented Sassuolo, Giulianova, Triestina and Verona before being signed by Palermo in 2006.
He did not make an appearance at the Stadio Renzo Barbera and moved to Lecce in 2007. He is the Tuscan’s third summer acquisition after the defensive duo of Matija Nastasic and Romulo.
In other news, Corriere dello Sport claims Fiorentina have not given up the fight for Alberto Aquilani, declaring they have struck deals with both the player and Liverpool.
