Mutu’s Fiorentina career coming to a close

Fiorentina have revealed that their troubled striker Adrian Mutu will not be offered a contract extension beyond his current deal, which expires at the end of next season.
The Romanian has had well-documented personal problems during his career, and has only just returned to the Fiorentina squad after serving a six-month ban for failing a doping test.
Previously, Mutu was sacked as a Chelsea player after testing positive for cocaine, earning another lengthy ban and fine. However, the 31-year-old stated recently that there was an offer of another five-year deal with Fiorentina on the table, which he chose to reject.
This claim has been dismissed by the Viola chief Pantaleo Corvino, who has stated that Mutu will leave the club in the summer of 2012 when his current deal runs out. He said: “Mutu? We have not offered him an extension, and we won’t.”
The controversial hitman is the only player whose future isn’t secured at the club though, insisted Corvino. He continued: “Fiorentina will not dismantle the squad. Alberto Gilardino is staying and Riccardo Montolivo is thinking about renewing.” Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
