Napoli admit failed Gareth Bale bid

Napoli’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon has revealed that the Partenopei enquired over the availability of Gareth Bale during the summer but were subsequently denied by his club Tottenham Hotspur.
The Welshman who marvelled Europe this past week with a stunning second-half hat-trick in their 4-3 defeat to champions Inter has seen his stock rise with Adriano Galliani of Milan publically admitting his interest.
He has certainly made an impact on those in Italy, but the Naples club spotted his potential alot sooner than most as they made an enquiry during the last transfer window.
Speaking to Radio Marte, Bigon said.
“Among the many options (Napoli looked at), there was him. We tried to take Bale, we watched him with the national team, but Tottenham didn’t intend to sell him.”
