Napoli continue Italy’s poor form in Europe

Napoli crashed out of Europe after losing 2-1 to Villarreal in the Europa league last night. This was yet another example of Italy’s struggle to find a club who will fly the flag this term. Milan and Inter both lost their Champions League first legs meaning that in two weeks time Italy could have no representatives left in any competition.
Marek Hamsik had given Napoli the lead before goals from Nilmar and Giuseppe Rossi eventually killed off the game. Hamsik spoke after the game to Mediaset saying: “This elimination hurts, as we played on level terms with a great side like Villarreal. Unfortunately, the incidents during the game did not help us. In the last 10 minutes of the first half, Villarreal poured forward and found the two goals.”
Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri had rested Edinson Cavani, Paolo Cannavaro and Christian Maggio due to the game against Milan on Monday, he however, thought it was just down to bad luck that his team went out: “We were truly unlucky in the key incidents. Their winner was a deflection, while we rattled the frame of the goal twice and went very close to going 2-0 up.” Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
