Nesta a doubt for Sampdoria game, but Milan injury situation improves

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Alessandro Nesta has flown to Munich in Germany to consult with Hans Muller-Wohlfart, Bayern Munich’s orthopaedic surgeon and club doctor. The observation has confirmed swelling in the cartilage of the central defender’s right knee which saw him miss out on Sunday’s game against Fiorentina.
The injury first occurred three months ago, a result from a long and intense career. This injury has seen Nesta follow a specific training programme over the last few days in hope that he will recover in time and not be excluded from Saturday’s match against Sampdoria. The final decision on whether or not the ex-Laziale will play will be made closer to the time though it cannot be excluded that further delay may be on the cards.
It is expected, should Nesta fail to recover in time that Yepes will play in his place. Just like Maldini, Nesta seems to be going through the same problems as the end of his career approaches, which will see him undergo a special training regime separate from the squad.
In addition, good news has arrived in the shape of Ambrosini and Bonera. The former has started to train with his teammates as well as working by himself doing various exercises with the ball. Bonera however has finally started to run. While Pirlo managed to complete a whole training session with the team. The midfielder is set to return to playing against Sampdoria on Saturday.
