Nesta: “We’re almost at the end”

Milan veteran Alessandro Nesta has dropped the strongest hint that he will hang up his boots soon as he told Corriere Dello Sport that his body was taking a toll on him and he will consider his future at the end of the season.
The news comes as somewhat of a shock for the Rossoneri as Nesta had not spoken out so openly about his retirement plans before. The Italy international will turn 35 tomorrow and has faced several knee problems in recent years.
“We’re almost at the end. We must be honest. I will not drag myself along on to the field. I still have knee problems and I don’t want to be a liability. I will decide at the end of the season.”
Nesta has been suffering from various knee related problems for almost the last five years and was unable to feature beyond the group stages for Italy in their World Cup winning campaign of 2006 for the same reason.
The Milan defender also shared his views on the Scudetto hopes for Milan who currently lead city rivals Inter by five points with the Derby Della Maddonina set to be played next week.
“I think that Inter’s Champions League campaign will take away the strength from them needed to keep up with us. We made a mistake against Bari, but Brescia compensated for that. The derby will no doubt be very crucial/”
Milan CEO Adriano Galliani however has moved to dispel away theories that if Milan are to win the Scudetto this year then Nesta will surely move on, claiming that the defender still has many years of service left in him. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
