Novara, Siena and Atalanta tied at the top in Serie B

The top of the table in Italy’s second tier is becoming a close run thing. This weekends results put Novara, Siena and Atalanta all on 43 points and the final part of the season looks like it will be closer than ever.
First placed Novara have not been able to take last year’s form into the new one and this week saw them welcome Padova to the Stadio Silvio Piola.
Novara got off to a poor start when Stephan El Shaarawy scored six minutes before half time, however, in the second half Filippo Porcari levelled for the home side to give the league leaders a much needed point.
Siena claimed a victory to take advantage of Novara’s slip up. They beat Pescara 2-1 thanks to goals from Francesco Bolzoni and Franco Brienza.
Atalanta could only manage a draw at Vicenza and missed a good opportunity to go top, Simone Tiribocchi scored for The Orobici before Raffaele Schiavi rescued a point for the away side.
With all three now level on points at the top the focus turns to next week’s fixtures. Novara have a good chance to find their form again against fourth from bottom Triestina whilst Siena have more difficult tie against seventh placed Reggina.
The toughest tie however, falls to Atalanta they play fourth placed Varese who have title aspirations of their own and also come of the back of beating Torino 3-0. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
