Official: Roma appoint Montella

Vincenzo Montella has been officially named as Roma’s caretaker coach until the end of the season, but the club still has one eye on Carlo Ancelotti to take over at the helm in the summer, according to Sky Sports Italia.
The former Giallorossi striker Montella, 36, has been at the club’s Trigoria training ground all day thrashing out a contract, and has now been put in charge of the out-of-form team that he played 267 league matches for.
However, the appointment is only thought to be a temporary measure. Ancelotti, currently fighting to stay in his job as Chelsea coach, has been earmarked to replace Montella and take over for next season.
Like Montella, Ancelotti is a hero for Roma supporters due to the time he spent at the club during his playing career.
Claudio Ranieri resigned as Giallorossi coach last night after losing 4-3 to Genoa, and president Rosella Sensi accepted his wish to leave this morning.
Montella has been given the reigns on an interim basis but Roma will continue to watch the progress of Ancelotti at Chelsea, as he is reportedly on the verge of the sack which could open the door to a return to the Italian capital city. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
