Onyewu leaves Milan on loan

Oguchi Onyewu has finalised a temporary exit from Milan, as he has joined Dutch champions FC Twente on loan for the rest of the season.
Onyewu has linked up with manager Michel Preud’homme who previously coached the American centre-back during their time together at Standard Liege in Belgium.
Despite arriving at Milan in the summer of 2009 after impressing for the United States in the Confederations Cup.
However, he suffered a serious knee injury upon his arrival and a succession of problems ever since has meant that Onyewu has only ever made one appearance for the Rossoneri.
His contract with the club expires at the end of next season, but the final year of his deal will be without a salary as a gesture of goodwill by Onyewu to the club for helping him through his injuries.
Earlier this season, the 28-year-old got into a training-ground fight with Zlatan Ibrahimovic which may have hastened his exit from the club. Onyewu will now play the final five months of the season in Holland in a bid to regain match practise.
