Oscar Del Calcio: Inter quartet produces a clean sweep

The Inter quartet of Jose Mourinho, Julio Cesar, Walter Samuel and Diego Milito won the Oscar Del Calcio in their respective categories whilst Antonio Di Natale, Edison Cavani, Javier Pastore and Giorgio Chiellini also picked up awards on Serie A’s glamour night.
Julio Cesar won the award for the best goalkeeper ahead of Palermo’s Salvatore Sirigu and Napoli’s Morgan Di Sanctis. The Brazilian was delighted to have picked up the prize for the second year running and talked of Inter’s Scudetto chances.
“It’s always nice to pick up personal awards and to win in for the second successive year is especially pleasing. Thanks to everyone who voted for me, I am eager to come back soon. Who wins the Scudetto? Inter.”
The best defender trophy was shared between Walter Samuel and Giorgio Chiellini and the Juve man felt the Bianconeri would also be in the position to challenge for the title but lamented Fabio Quagliarella’s injury.
“I said Juventus will win the Scudetto, but it will be really difficult. We were doing well before Christmas, I feel that the injury to Quagliarella has taken away a lot from this team.”
Diego Milito was named the best attacker for the previous season where his 22 goals helped the Nerazzurri to capture their fifth successive Scudetto and claimed he will be fit to face Palermo this weekend.
Jose Mourinho won the Panchina Del’Oro or ‘The Golden Bench’ for his achievements with Inter last term and the Real Madrid Coach thanked Calcio for all that it had taught him and claimed his experience here had made him a better tactician.
Antonio Di Natale picked up his Capocannonieri award too after netting 29 times and the Udinese frontman was visibly elated with his achievements as well as his team’s current form.
“I am happy for this award, but the best goal for me was the recovery of Udinese. It was hard to say no to Juventus but in football, its not all about the money. I am on 99 goals, I hope to make it 100 against Juve.”
Edison Cavani picked up the audience award for the best player and the Uruguayan who has been in sensational form this season expressed his desire to succeed to Napoli: “I’m fine in Naples and I want to win something in this shirt.”
Javier Pastore was named the Best Young Footballer of the Year beating Mario Balotelli and Alexandre Pato to the award but he warded off suggestions that he could leave Palermo soon.
“Playing one day in a big team is my dream, but now the best choice is to stay in Palermo to grow. We want to reach as high as possible, the goal is to win a place in the Champions League.”
