Palermo appoint Pioli as Coach

Palermo have officialy appointed Stefano Pioli as their new Coach after President Maurizio Zamparini parted ways with Delio Rossi yesterday.
His appointment to the position was announced on the club’s official website: “Stefano Pioli is the new coach of Palermo. The club’s president Maurizio Zamparini has agreed on a two-year contract with an option for the third.”
Pioli who managed Chievo this past season quit his position at the Flying Donkeys after the end of the campaign. He guided the Gialloblu to a respectable 11th position in the table.
Ironically, Pioli’s last game in charge for Chievo saw him lead the side to a 3-1 win against Palermo in Sicily. His team was known for its defensive solidity and in fact had the fourth best defence in the league conceding only 40 goals.
Pioli has spent most of his coaching career in Serie B where he has had notable spells with Grossetto and Sassuolo and before Chievo he last managed Parma in 2007 but was sacked mid-season.
His appointment at Palermo comes after a season where the team reached the Coppa Italia final and finished in seventh place despite an upheaveal at the club which saw Delio Rossi sacked only to be rehired a month later. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
