Palermo sack Delio Rossi and hire Serse Cosmi

On Monday Palermo sacked Delio Rossi and appointed Serse Cosmi. The appointment has come as a shock as the controversial Cosmi last managed in Serie A in 2009 with Livorno and has not managed a team of this stature before.
Palermo President axed Delio Rossi after Sundays embarrassing home 7-0 defeat at the hands of Udinese. After the game Maurizio Zamparini had fumed that Rossi had less than a one per cent of remaining in charge of the Rosanero. Confirming that he was interviewing perspective candidates on Monday the media and fans a like had expected the President would look towards a big name to fill the void. They certainly got a big character.
Serse Cosmi began his rise to prominence with Perugia in 2000, he has since gone on to manage Genoa, Brescia, Udinese and Livorno, the National (Abu Dhabi) once said of him “With his trademark cap and his little goatee beard, Serse Cosmi is one of Italian football’s most recognisable figures. His touchline energy, and excitable gestures make him a popular butt of jokes by Italian comedians, too. His provincial accent is often impenetrable for those unfamiliar with the brogue of Perugia. Cosmi is an eccentric goblin of a man, but a wily coach who is greatly liked by fans.”
Cosmi spoke before yesterday saying: “I’m proud to face such an important adventure,” he told the outfit’s website. “I’ll work for a prestigious club in an extraordinary city. I’ve wanted this opportunity for some time. This job is like a liberation for me, I’m extremely happy.” Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
