Pato confident of success despite Ibrahimovic ban

Alexandre Pato insists Milan are still on track for the league title regardless of the three-match ban given to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Brazil international is ready to take greater responsibility and remains confident the depth in the Rossoneri squad can cope with the loss of the Swedish striker.
Speaking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Pato said: “Ibrahimovic is important to us – it’s a great loss but we have others that can play well.”
Speculation emanating from Italy earlier this season suggested the two players were unable to play in tandem, sparking rumours of a rift and while both have tried to play down any concerns, Pato spoke once again of his admiration for fellow forward Antonio Cassano.
“With him I feel good. For a while I have wanted to play with him and now I can do it. I’m happy,” added Pato.
Criticism has been directed towards Pato from some quarters this term – the striker seemingly unable to replicate his blistering form of last season – but the 21-year-old is confident the tough times are behind him.
“I was only injured, I never thought I could not do anything. Now I am happy,” concluded Pato.
Milan travel to Palermo on March 19 looking to extend their five point lead at the top of the standings.
