Pirlo could leave as Milan reshape squad

Andrea Pirlo is the latest Milan player to be linked with an exit from the San Siro, as the club prepares to lower the average age of their squad.
Pirlo’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the 31-year-old playmaker has been linked with a switch to Chelsea when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
That rumour has gained strength with the emergence that Milan may be willing to let Pirlo leave because they would rather pay his large wages to a younger alternative.
Ronaldinho, Alessandro Nesta and Filippo Inzaghi are the other high-profile players whose contracts are coming to an end, and all three could be shipped out by the Rossoneri.
Ronaldinho, 30, has recently lost his place in the team and has been linked with clubs in America. Nesta, 34, could retire due to fitness issues, and Inzaghi, 37, may not be offered a new deal after rupturing his cruciate ligaments recently.
Milan have been criticised in recent seasons for their ageing squad but if these famous names – along with their hefty wages – are offloaded in the summer, it could create a new era for the Rossoneri.
