Potential new Roma owners target Ancelotti

AS Roma’s potential new owners are reportedly targeting Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti take over the role as coach of the club.
The American consortium led by Thomas R DiBenedetto where confirmed as the front runners to take over on Thursday and are said to be considering Claudio Ranieri’s position as coach, according to a report by Il Corriere dello Sport.
Current President Rosella Sensi had recently hinted at a new deal for Ranieri, but with a takeover now imminent, the buck will be passed to the Americans.
The consortium is thought to want a fresh start and believe that Ancelotti, who won the Scudetto with Roma as a player, would be the right man to guide the club to success.
Ancelotti has repeatedly spoken of his allegiance to Chelsea this season, but has never ruled out a return to Serie A.
Part of the consortium’s plans is to also tie holding midfielder Daniele De Rossi down on a long term contract following reported interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Italian international’s current deal expires in 2012 and plans are already underway to open negotiations with the De Rossi and his representative.
