Pozzo: Champions League will mean our players stay

Udinese patron Giampaolo Pozzo, speaking to la Politica nel Pallone, noted he is confident Champions League qualification will ensure his side will be able to retain its best players for next season.
Star performers such as Alexis Sanchez have been linked with a move away from Udine. Udinese are in the running for a place in the prestigious competition, currently sitting fifth, one point off fourth placed Lazio.
“There is a big difference between the Champions League and the Europa League, more than just the economic factor; if we make the Champions League we can make a better offer to our players that are wanted by other clubs.”
Pozzo believes his team are on the rise and that Udinese have a project in mind. “We tell our players we have a project in place. If we can build our economic position, then with the satisfaction of playing at the highest level we have a better chance to negotiate with our players. If, on the other hand, you are fighting to avoid relegation it is harder to keep these players.”
The owner was full of praise for the work of Francesco Guidolin, saying he is the best Coach he has seen at the Club. Even after five straight losses to start the season, the tactician was backed and that faith has been repayed.
“Guidolin is a good Coach. Even [Alberto] Zaccheroni and [Luciano] Spalletti were good and are a part of Udinese history but now he has become our number one coach.”
