Ranieri and Milito pleased with Inter’s performance

Inter Milan took a decisive step closer to Champions League group qualification as they beat French side Lille 2 – 1 on Wednesday at the San Siro.
After an opening header from Walter Samuel and a second half Deigo Milito strike after wizardry by Zavier Zanetti, Inter still continued to struggle to see off their opposition. Lille’s Brazilian striker Tùlio de Melo finally pulled a goal back in the 84th minute but Inter, somewhat fortunately, held on.
After the game, coach Claudio Ranieri told Sky Italia, “This was an important game, we want to do well in the Champions League. What pleased be tonight was the spirit, the determination: this is a team that has strong feelings and huge pride.”
Inter’s second goalscorer, Milito, added, “I’m happy about the victory and about the goal that has given me confidence. Now we should move up the league: I’m convinced that we’ll come through, we’re coming up against a period of difficulty, but we’re strong and we’ll come through, starting with the game against Genoa, where we want to win.”
