Ranieri and Totti see Catania game as a must win

Claudio Ranieri believes that his first Serie A match of the year against Catania is a must win game if the Giallorossi are to have any hope of catching league leaders Milan.
Milan lead Roma by seven points, however, before the winter break the Roman side did manage to beat the Rossoneri 1-0 at the San Siro keeping them still in with a chance. Roma are renowned for their poor starts and strong finishes under Ranieri and the ex-Parma coach is under no illusions that the second half of the season needs to start strongly and that means beating Catania.
Ranieri spoke about the game saying that “It’s going to be a difficult game. Catania will put up many hurdles but we have to win. We have to start the year well and we must get points this month in order to have a say in the league.” Although the Sicilian side ended the year on a high beating Brescia 1-0 at home, they have not managed to win an away game for seven months.
Captain Francesco Totti has certainly not given up hope of lifting the Scudetto and thinks that although it will be tough Roma are up for the challenge, he said “Seven points is a big margin, but there are still many games left to play and we will continue to battle for the Scudetto.”
