Ranieri offers no excuses after Palermo mauling

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri was realistic in his assessment after his team crumbled in Sicily on Sunday evening against Palermo.
Speaking to Sky Italia after the game, Ranieri admitted there were no excuses for his side’s poor performance stating that: “Palermo played better than us, congratulations to them, we were poor tonight”.
Goals from Fabrizio Miccoli, Josip Ilicic and Antonio Nocerino gave the islanders their third consecutive victory whilst Roma suffered their first defeat in seven games. Delio Rossi’s men now leapfrog the Giallorossi in the Serie A standings and look real contenders for a Champions League spot next season. To compound a miserable night for Ranieri, French midfielder Jeremy Menez picked up an injury in the second-half which may keep him sidelined for next weekend’s trip to Chievo.
