Ranieri: Roma prepare for Basel, Ranieri backs Totti-Borriello

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has quickly turned his team’s attentions to the Champions League following an impressive win over Genoa on Saturday night. The Giallorossi welcome Swiss FC Basel to the Stadio Olimpico and will be looking to get their second win of the European campaign.
“I ask the team to show the same type of determination and spirit that we showed against Genoa”, Ranieri started off. The two teams had squared off against each other in the Europa League last year and the Tinkerman claimed he has a lot of respect for his opponents: “It will be a tough game. Basel is a good team that know how to close down teams and start quick counter-attacks”.
The Roma tactician then said the problems encountered by his team have been more mental than physical: “We have to be very straight with our antennas. We had a bit of apprehension even against Genoa. We have lost before here in Rome even while playing a good game. For tomorrow we know our opponent’s strenghts and weakness and we will try to exploit them”.
Recent reports have claimed that there are problems between Roman talisman Francesco Totti and Ranieri but the Coach lavished praise on his captain: “The Totti-Borriello partnership upfront is ‘stratospheric’. Totti may not have scored but I am very pleased with his performance”.
