Ranieri: We must beat Juventus

Roma Coach Claudio Ranieri believes his team must beat Juventus if they are to stay in the hunt for the Scudetto. “Juventus are a great team, a massive obstacle but examinations in football never end. We have to win as we are still trailing in the standings”, he said at the pre-game press conference.
Ranieri claimed that he has no grudges against Juve coach Gigi Del Neri whose Sampdoria side of last year dashed Roma’s chances for the Championship: “There is no specific desire to gain revenge against Del Neri (or Juventus). I have always had the will to win, whether I am facing my former team or anyone else”.
The ex-Juve manager then stressed the need for his team to stay focused throughout the 90 minutes and praised the quality of his opponents: “We are facing a very good team and we must not miss a beat against them. They have some great players that I know well and those that can decide a game any moment”.
Jeremy Menez has also been in the news with reports linking him with a move to Manchester United and Ranieri moved to address them: “Menez is doing very well here. He has great potential and is improving a lot. This will be an important year for him”.
Much has been made this season of the relationship between talisman Francesco Totti and the coach as Ranieri has substituted him on quite a few occasions, but the Tinkerman insists that they understand each other well: “It is not difficult to send Totti to the bench, with him things are fast tracked as we understand each other very well. I have never regretted sending him to the bench as these decisions are taken for the good of Roma”.
The Giallorossi will travel to take on the Bianconeri at the Stadio Olimpico Di Torino on Saturday night.
