Roma pair De Rossi and Perrotta banned for three matches

Roma’s Champions League aspirations have taken a hit as midfielders Daniele De Rossi and Simone Perrotta have been handed three-match bans following dual red cards on Sunday against Bari. If these bans are not repealed, both players will miss the rest of the season.
Lega Calcio’s disciplinary panel gathered on Tuesday afternoon to deliver their verdict. The council concluded each player should be banned for three games: De Rossi for “intentionally hitting an opponent with an elbow to the face three minutes into the second half” and Perrotta for “hitting an opponent in the back with a punch.”
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Roma will present an appeal against the three-match bans for both players and do so with added urgency.
Elsewhere in the Serie A, Lecce’s David Di Michele and Bari’s Kamil Glik have also been handed three-match suspensions after video evidence suggested violent conduct.
With only three games remaining, Roma sit one point behind city rivals Lazio for the final Champions League spot.
