Roma reject Fiorentina’s Brighi bid

Matteo Brighi’s agent has claimed that Roma have turned down a bid for the player from Fiorentina because they still see him as an important asset.
Brighi has been constantly linked with a move away from Rome during the January transfer window due to his limited playing time so far this season. Fiorentina had emerged as the favourites to land the midfielder, but it seems Roma do not want to sell him.
The 29-year-old’s agent Vanni Puzzolo said: “Brighi is not leaving Roma and the club have yet again made that clear.
“In the last few hours Fiorentina made another enquiry for him, but Roma responded by underlining how important the player is to boss Claudio Ranieri.”

Brighi was Serie A’s Young Player of the Year in 2002 but it is widely regarded that his career has never hit the heights that it promised. He has journeyed from Rimini through five more clubs before joining Roma and despite being linked with another move, it seems his future his in the capital for the time being.
