Roma step up Stekelenburg chase

Roma will step up their pursuit of Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg this week, according to the players’ agent.
The 28-year-old Holland international is keen to move to a bigger European league, with negotiations likely to start when current shot-stopper Alexander Doni completes his move to Liverpool.
Speaking to Eurosport, Robert Jansen said: “At the moment I have no new details on Stekelenburg, but there is a concrete possibility to see my client in Rome. I remain absolutely optimistic.”
Ajax have been resigned to losing Stekelenburg for some time, with Arsenal also reportedly interested, and Frank de Boer recently speaking of his surprise that the World Cup finalist had not already moved on.
“If you look at his qualities, it is strange that he has not yet been bought by a European club. I know that Roma are the only team linked with Maarten and I know the ambitions of Maarten to move to a foreign club,” said De Boer.
It is thought an offer in the region of €10m will be enough to secure the services of the former Ajax youth academy product. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
