Rossi ignores Zamperini but thanks Palermo supporters

Ex-Palermo Coach Delio Rossi today resisted the opportunity to retaliate against president Maurizio Zamperini following his acrimonious exit from the club.
The Sicilians were embarrassed at home by Udinese on Sunday, eventually losing 7-0 in what would be Rossi’s final game in charge – the president mocking his coach after the game: “Rossi has a 1% chance of staying with the Rosanero if you want to try and bet,” he told reporters.
Speaking to the Gazzetto dello Sport, Rossi said: “I am here to thank the fans and all at Palermo with whom I have built a relationship based on mutual respect.
“My thanks to all my co-workers and the players, with whom I never had any issues.”

Rossi started his tenure at Palermo in impressive fashion – taking the club to within two points of a Champions League place in his first season, whilst playing vibrant, attacking football.
A lack of squad depth and subsequent injuries hindered his side’s progress, culminating in the record loss in his final game in charge.
“Coaches and presidents come and go, but Palermo will always be,” added Rossi.
The Udinese defeat was the third in a row for the Rosanero, who have since appointed enigmatic former Perugia coach Serse Cosmi.
Cosmi’s first game in charge will be a daunting trip to face Lazio on March 6. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
