Sampdoria want Barcelona teenager

Sampdoria have targeted Mauro Icardi in the January transfer window, a teenager that has progressed through Barcelona’s famous youth set-up but hasn’t been deemed good enough for the first-team.
Barcelona brought Icardi to the club from his native Argentina aged 16 in the hope that he could follow in the footsteps of Lionel Messi. However, he is now a month shy of his 18th birthday and still hasn’t shown the signs of genius that Barcelona hoped for and the Spanish champions are ready to let him move on.
Icardi’s agent Abian Morano said: “For now there is nothing official between Sampdoria and Barcelona, so we cannot comment on the financial details.
“Mauro has not completed his footballing maturity the way that Barca expected, as his characteristics are no longer suitable for the Barcelona tactical system. This is why we have decided to do what is best for him.
“The best option is to join a club like Sampdoria, who have decided to bet on him.”

Should Sampdoria try to push through a deal, it would be the second teenage striker they have signed in this transfer window after the loan arrival of Federico Macheda. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
