Samuel: “Leonardo brought calm to Inter”

Inter defender Walter Samuel has stated that Brazilian Coach Leonardo brought some calm to the Inter dressing room which has helped them mount an inspiring comeback in the title race against Milan.
Samuel has been out of action since early November after injuring the cruciate ligament in his knee, but the Argentinean is getting closer to full recovery and he shared his views on Inter Channel.
“I think Leonardo freshened the place up and gave the team a bit of a psychological lift. He brought some calm to the place and that wasn’t easy because in order to make up points we had to risk things a bit.”
When Leonardo took charge of Inter at the end of last year, the Nerazzurri were trailing city rivals Milan in the Championship by 13 points. However, since then having won their two games in hand and a series of positive results has seen the gap slashed to just two points at the top.
Inter have also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League where they will face Schalke and they take on Roma in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. Samuel believes that being in contention in all competitions at the end of the season, only inspires the team more.
“When we’re all fit, this is the one of the best teams in Europe. Now the more we push on, the more we believe we can do it. What’s more, the further we go in competitions the more chance I have of playing.”
Samuel has been training separately from his Inter team-mates as part of his rehabilitation and the club has stated that the defender could be back in action before the end of the season. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
