Sculli wants Lazio-Manchester showdown

Lazio striker Giuseppe Sculli would like to face one of the two Manchester clubs in the Europa League round of 32.
The Calabria native was on hand to score the second goal as Lazio booked their spot in the last 32 with a 2-0 win over Sporting Lisbon, after Libor Kozak netted the first. Lazio was only assured a place in the knockout phase thanks to Zurich’s win over Romanian side Vaslui.
The goal was Sculli’s third of the Europa League campaign and as he told, Lazio needed results to go their way.
“It was necessary to win and hope that Vaslui lost. Everything we hoped for went well and we are happy to have made it through to the next phase. Personally I am happy to have scored this goal.”
Sculli has no doubt about who he wants Lazio to come across in the first knockout round:
“I would like to face Manchester United or Manchester City. That is a prestigious match that we merit. We deserve to have qualified, for how we have played so far in the Europa League and for how we are going in Serie A. The Europa League is considered important to us; it is an objective for Lazio.”
Lazio face another early challenger for the Scudetto in Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
“We are delighted about our position at the moment. Udinese is a very good squad and on Sunday we will see what we have to do. It is necessary to recuperate physically and emotionally so we can be ready for this very tricky match.”
