Serie A 2019/20 preview: Juventus fancied to make it nine in a row

Juventus will head into the 2019/20 season aiming to continue their staggering dominance over their Serie A rivals.
The Turin-based club have won the title for the past eight years and it’s difficult to imagine any other side challenging their supremacy next term.

However, there are numerous clubs who will be desperate to knock Juve off their perch next term, with the likes of Napoli, Inter Milan and Roma amongst the most likely candidates.
Read on as we look at who the main challengers for the 2019/20 Serie A title.
Juventus
With 35 Serie A titles under their belt it is fair to say that Juventus are a force to be reckoned with in Italian football.
They will be favourites with BetEasy to win the championship for the ninth successive season and will undoubtedly be tough to beat next term.
The reigning champions are expected to be busy in the next transfer window, with defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Raphael Varane top of manager Massimiliano Allegri’s wishlist.
Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld may be a more realistic target, while a move for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro could also be on the cards.
Juve’s dominance of Serie A shows no signs of slowing down just yet and they are strongly fancied to claim top spot again next season.
Napoli
Napoli have been one of Juve’s main challengers over the past few years, finishing in the top three in six of the last seven seasons.
Carlo Ancelotti took over as the manager before the 2018/19 campaign and he has already stated his belief that Juventus can be toppled.
Hanging on to Kalidou Koulibaly will be the key to their success, with the likes of Manchester United eager to sign the talented defender.
PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano is Napoli’s top transfer target this summer and the Mexican would be a superb addition to their attacking options.
However, the suspicion remains that Napoli lack the resources needed to mount a genuine challenge to Juve and second place is probably the best they can hope for.
Inter Milan
Inter appear to be improving after a few disappointing campaigns, although there is still a huge points difference between themselves and Juve.
Their main issue is inconsistency, with Luciano Spalletti’s side repeatedly throwing away silly points against teams they should be beating.
Selling troublesome forward Mauro Icardi this summer could give Spalletti more ammunition in the transfer market as he bids to close the gap on Juve.
Manchester City pair Danilo and Ilkay Gundogan are amongst the players linked with a move to the San Siro, and both would be solid additions to their squad.
Challenging for the title in 2019/20 will probably be a bridge too far, but Inter should finish much closer to Napoli next term.
Roma
Roma have finished in the top three for the past five years and are not out of the running to repeat the trick this season.
Too many drawn games have hindered their progress, but they remain a hugely talented team when everything clicks into place.
Roma have reportedly made Antonio Conte a huge offer to take over as manager and he would be a magnificent appointment if they can persuade him to join.
Club legend Francesco Totti has given his backing to Conte, saying that the former Chelsea boss would give the club a “winning mentality”.
If Roma manage to lure Conte to the Olympic Stadium, don’t be surprised to see them emerge as the main contenders to Juve.
