Ancona 2-2 Padova: Padova went two goals up in this contest, the first was a cross come shot from Matteo Darmian that beat the keeper on his near post, the second a well placed header from Andrea Bovo. Enter Salvatore Mastronunzio whose brace levelled the game both good individual efforts with calm finishes.

Brescia 2-1 Ascoli: Brescia’s good run of form was top continue despite countless chances failing to give them the lead. Davide Possanzini at 63rd minute run, saw a delectable chip from an acute angle put the home side ahead. Andrea Caracciolo slotted in from a one on one six minutes later for 2-0. Marco Bernacci’s header late on was nothing but consolation.

Cittadella 1-0 Reggina: Mid table Cittadella handed relegation bound Reggina a crushing blow late on in this game. Just after 80 minutes a free kick was met with a flick on header from Tommaso Bellazzini the ball nestled in the corner to give the home side the points.

Crotone 1-1 Lecce: If Lecce is going to win the title it is going to do it the hardest way. Persistent work and a crashing drive from Guido Marilungo gave the visitors the lead. However, on 39 minutes the home team were level, poor marking in the Lecce box allowed Ettore Mendicino a free header.

Frosinone 3-1 Empoli: Simone Basso connected with a cross to slot in Frosinone’s first goal at the near post. The equaliser exposed Empoli’s defensive weakness as a ball across the box was tapped in by Claudio Coralli. However, the game was settled through a one on one finish from Gennaro Troianello and a poacher’s goal from Fabio Mazzeo.

Gallipoli 0-5 Vicenza: Result of the day goes to Vicenza who smashed Gallipoli 5-0 away from home. Pick of the bunch was Gabriele Paonessa’s superb close range back heel which fooled Jan Koprivec for the fourth goal. Nicola Madonna and Sasa Bjelanovic rounded up the goals with two each in what was a superb win for the Biancorossi.

Mantova 2-1 Sassuolo: Of all this weekends games, this is, the one you would have thought was the dead certainly. A Nicolò Consolini own goal and predatory strike from Alessandro Pellicori proved that this would not be the case. Even though on 62 minutes Daniele Martinetti’s quick turn and curl into the top corner got the away side back in the game its was too little to late for the team in second place.

Modena 1-2 Grosseto: Grosseto came storming out of the traps with a strong run and placed finish from Mauro Esposito on 5 minutes. By 16 minutes they were two up, this time it was Mauricio Ferreira Pinilla’s turn, a cool finish profiting on poor defending. On 85 minutes Domenico Girardi beat all comers in thought and deed to rise up and head in a consolation.

Piacenza 1-0 Albinoleffe: Mikhail Sivakou scored the only goal in this game to give Piacenza much needed win in their attempt to avoid the drop. Sivakou’s shot was drilled at the near post and in truth a keeper with quality Ivan Pelizzoli should have saved it. However, Albinoleffe slip dangerously close to the drop zone.

Torino 2-3 Salernitana: An ever improving Torino side faced Salernitana, the team who just can’t win. A fantastic match in which Ahmed Barusso and Rolando Bianchi scored for the home side the later having his penalty saved. This game was all about the away side who managed to gain a victory with ten men. Georgios Kyriazis goal and Federico Dionisi’s brace gave the away team a memorable victory.

Triestina 0-0 Cesena: Riccardo Colombo was sent of for the home side on 19 minutes but despite this they managed to hold out for a well earned point to edge themselves nearly out of the drop zone. Cesena will be disappointed as this draw sees the six points off the top.
