Simeone adds another Argentine at Catania

The significant number of Argentine players at Catania has increased again as the club has bought Gonzalo Bergessio from French club Saint-Etienne.
Catania’s new boss Diego Simeone – another Argentinean – has moved quickly in the transfer market to sign the 26-year-old striker on a contract until the summer of 2014.
Bergessio, whose transfer fee has been undisclosed, has become the 12th Argentinean player in Catania’s current squad.
Bergessio’s scoring record at Saint-Etienne has been poor (just six in 26 league appearances since joining them in August 2009) but Simeone is hoping that his form will improve in Sicily.
However, Bergessio has two goals in three international appearances for Argentina and his ability to find the back of the net in his home country has never been in doubt.
The tall striker will be hoping to score his first goal of the current season for Catania as he hadn’t got off the mark for Saint-Etienne previously.
