Storari to start for Juventus against Genoa

Juventus are set to start Marco Storari instead of Gigi Buffon when they play Genoa this weekend. The 34-year-old impressed in Juventus’s 2-0 win against Roma and could be thrust into the limelight even more as rumours have started about yet another injury for Buffon.
The Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that the official take on Gigi’s absence is that it is “because of a temperature which prevented him from playing against Roma and from training on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.” However, the report goes on to suggest that there are rumours at the Juventus training camp that suggest it is an inflammation in his spine that is keeping him out. Buffon has struggled for long periods of time with back troubles and this recent rumour will be bad news to fans of the ‘Old Lady’
Whilst Buffon is incapacitated Storari is turning heads in training and on the field. His performance against Roma was faultless and his work ethic is being noted by the Juventus coaching staff. It is believed that the ex-Messina custodian would have been picked on form no matter whether Buffon had been fit or not for the game this weekend.
