Totti to return for farewell friendly?

FIGC President Giancarlo Abete has told Radio Anch’io Lo Sport that he would be happy to see Francesco Totti return to the national team, even if it is only for a farewell appearance.
Last week Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli invited Totti to play in a friendly to officially signal the end of his international career, an idea which has been given the green light by Abete.
He said: “Doors are always open for champions who have honoured the Italy shirt. All routes are possible, but what is valid for Totti is also valid for those champions who wore the shirt too… What Prandelli said doesn’t create an exclusivity though.”
Totti was linked with a return to the Azzurri for last summer’s World Cup, but in the end failed to appear for Marcello Lippi’s men. He had previously announced his international retirement after winning the 2006 World Cup.
Abete’s invitation for Totti to be the star of a specially-arranged friendly in November was also offered to Paolo Maldini when he retired, although the Milan defender rejected the offer. Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
