Viviano: “Buffon is the Maradona of goalkeepers”

Current Italy goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano had admitted that he is only standing in for the injured Gianluigi Buffon, and will hand the gloves back when the Juventus keeper returns.
Viviano, quoted in Italian news agency ANSA said: “Buffon is the Maradona of goalkeepers. It’s not easy to find another one like him, but in Italy there are good goalkeepers among the youngsters and they deserve confidence.”
The Bologna keeper, who has two international caps, beat Palermo’s Salvatore Sirigu to the starting line-up for the clash with Northern Ireland, and is expected to retain his place for the visit of Serbia.
Viviano continued: “Competition is part of football. It’s not a problem to live together also because Sirigu and I are friends. It’s the media who are talking about it continuously. But Gigi’s shadow is not a burden, but rather a motivation to show that behind him, a champion who I admire a lot also as a man, there are quality goalkeepers who can play for the national team. Some years ago, our clubs focused more on foreigners out of a question of cost and image. Instead now we try to find and develop Italian goalkeepers.” Welcome Bonus Offer Betway
