Zenit St. Petersburg deny Buffon link

Russian champions Zenit St. Petersburg, coached by Luciano Spalletti, have denied that they have made a big-money bid for Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Zenit have recently won the Russian league, and Spalletti is now searching Serie A for new recruits to his team. The press in Russia have reported that they have offered Juventus €18 million for Buffon, but that has now been played down by the club.
Zenit technical director Igor Korneev said: “This is nothing more than rumour, which always surrounds our club.” Buffon, 32, hasn’t yet played this season due to a back injury but it due to return in January.
However, Juventus coach Gigi Del Neri has warned him that he will not walk straight back into the team because his replacement Marco Storari has been impressive.
Buffon’s commitment to Juventus has also been called into question by Del Neri in the past few months. The Bianconeri sporting director Beppe Marotta has insisted that there is no rift between the pair, though, and Buffon is expected to remain with Juventus.
