Zidane: Juventus will return to the top

Zinedine Zidane is confident Juventus will return to the top of Italian football under the rule of Andrea Agnelli while Edgar Davids urged patience is the key for a bright future.
Those two were joined by a host of past Juventus and Torino legends on show to raise money for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) research. The match was set-up by Gianluca Vialli and Massimo Mauro and finished in a 2-2 draw.
Torino took a two goal lead through Junior and Gianluigi Lentini, but Pavel Nedved flicked in Juve’s first and Sergio Porrini got the equaliser. Zidane supplied the cross for Nedved, and offered his thoughts on the current situation at Vinovo.
“As a Juventino, it’s sad to see the team experiencing difficulties. I always want to see them flying high, fighting for the top positions. It will take a bit of time, but I’m certain that Juve will return to compete,” he told Juventus.com.
“The club has stayed in my heart. This team has been very important for me and for my career it’s been wonderful to meet so many team mates again this evening. Together we’ve written important pages in the history of Juventus.”
Davids wore the shirt of some of the greatest sides in European football, but says the Old Lady has a special place in his life: “Wearing this shirt is always emotional and it’s given me great pleasure to return to this stadium, where we once trained and prepared for matches.”
Like Zidane, the ex-Ajax star is confident success will come, but patience is required: “It will take a bit of difficulty before experiencing the sweet moments. In this way, when the good moments arrive they will be appreciated more. Patience is needed, because just wearing the shirt isn’t enough to obtain success. Each side that plays against Juventus wants to beat them and a fighting mentality is required in every game. It takes time to find this mentality.”
