Ziegler set for Sampdoria exit

Sampdoria are reportedly close to allowing Reto Ziegler to leave and join Spanish side Malaga. Ziegler was thought to be hot property last season when he impressed for Samp, but this term his form has gone under the radar and he has seemingly lost the value he once commanded.
The left-back has also struggled to command a regular place in Domenico Di Carlo’s team, so the club could be set to offload him in January. Malaga are allegedly going to part with approximately €3.5 million for Ziegler’s signature.
The Spaniards may be languishing near the bottom of La Liga but are actively trying to invest in their squad during this transfer window, and are also close to a deal for Roma’s Julio Baptista. Former Italy international Enzo Maresca also joined the club a month ago.
Ziegler, 24, was in advanced talks with Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg last summer but a deal failed to materialise. He now seems set to secure his exit from the club with Malaga keen to get a deal done.
The Swiss international is expected in Spain to discuss personal terms in the next few days with a view to wrapping up the transfer.
